Producer Profile

Le Coste is located in Gradoli, on the volcanic slopes of Lake Bolsena in Lazio, Italy. The estate spans about 14 hectares, of which three are dedicated to old vineyards of local varieties, while the rest are olive groves, chestnut trees, woods, and fields. The soil, rich in iron and minerals, is a testament to the volcanic activity of the region. This unique terroir imparts a distinct character to the wines of Le Coste.

The philosophy of Le Coste is deeply rooted in respect for the land. The vineyards are cultivated without the use of chemicals and in full respect of the environment, following biodynamic principles. This approach ensures that the vines are in harmony with the land, and the resulting wines are a true reflection of their origin.

The wines of Le Coste are a celebration of purity and simplicity. They are made without the addition of synthetic chemicals, cultivated yeasts, or other additives. The fermentation process is spontaneous, relying on the natural yeasts present on the grape skins. Aging is done in a mix of terracotta amphorae, large wooden barrels, and used French oak barrels, allowing the wines to breathe and develop without imparting excessive oak flavors.

Each wine from Le Coste tells a story. Whether it's the vibrant and fresh "Bianco," made from Procanico and Malvasia, or the deep and complex "Rosso," a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and local varieties, each bottle is an exploration of the land, the grape, and the vintage.

Volcanic Soils: The soils of Lazio, particularly in areas around Lake Bolsena and the Alban Hills, are rich in volcanic ash, basalt, and tuff. These soils are well-draining and rich in minerals, imparting a distinct minerality to the wines.
Climate: Lazio enjoys a Mediterranean climate. The sea's proximity ensures that extreme temperatures are rare, making it ideal for grape cultivation. The region receives adequate rainfall, especially in the winter months, ensuring that the vines are well-nourished throughout the growing season.

White Grapes:

Trebbiano: This is one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in Lazio. It produces fresh, light-bodied wines with crisp acidity.
Malvasia: Often blended with Trebbiano, Malvasia produces aromatic wines with floral and fruity notes.
Red Grapes:

Cesanese: Native to Lazio, Cesanese produces deeply colored wines with flavors of dark fruits, spices, and herbs.

To cancel an order you must contact us as soon as possible. We cannot cancel orders that have already been processed and are on their way. We will not be able to issue a refund if you cancel after we shipped your wine.
